About Me

February 8, 1937 – May 2, 2020

My birth name Shirley Ann Vannatter and I was born on February 8, 1937, in Tekoa, Washington to Charles M Vannatter, age 38, and Anna Rush Vannatter, age 26.

I graduated from St. Maries High School, in Idaho on May 17th, 1957. I had fond memories of St. Maries, Idaho most of my life.

I married Donald Gene Brown, son of Rev. and Mrs. Alvin Brown on Friday, March 29, 1957, at the Foursquare church in St. Maries, Idaho. My wedding dress was light blue with white accessories, and flowers

My husband and I eventually moved to the Redmond/Terrebonne area in Oregon where we had 4 children, Theresa Kay Brown, Donald Gene Brown, Paula Ann Brown, and Jeffery Wayne Brown. Over Oregon’s great divide, we moved to the Willamette Valley in 1987-1988.

I enjoyed being outside, going to the Oregon coast, I dearly enjoyed long walks, gardening, flowers, knitting, sewing, and grandchildren. I also found enjoyment reading novels, short stories, and working on puzzles, usually on one of the end tables…sometimes the kitchen table.

There was a time I wanted to do more with my life, so I decided to go back to school earning my CNA from Linn Benton Community College practicing at the Mennonite Home in Albany, Oregon on June 6, 1989.

Newlyweds at a lake in Idaho…

Paula and I planted a Yellow Rose for the memory of Donald Brown, and a Red Rose for Shirley Brown in our garden. The picture of Donald and Shirley Brown was found by accident..one of two slides.
